Our goal is to promote the understanding of major depressive disorder and the interaction between patients and healthcare professionals. The Depression Center and The Depression Test have been developed with current research and theory in the scientific literature on the treatment of mood disorders, including information from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in the United States.
The purpose of this website is to increase treatment seeking and treatment success by:
- educating users on the nature and treatment of major depressive disorder
- engaging users in treatment for their depression by providing them with personalized results from a depression screening test that they can share with their family physician (GP)
- providing a support community moderated by experts and

How does The Depression Test work?
The Depression Test collects user input and produces a Final Report. This personalized final report outlines endorsed combinations of 24 mood-related disorders and comorbid symptoms. The Final Report is designed to be shared with the user's physician.
As a result of the technique used to gather user information, we are able to harvest valuable combinations of cumulative data that can be used for research purposes. Through our data collection methodology, researchers can collect units of data based on parameters such as sex, specific disorder, endorsed and non-endorsed symptoms, comorbid symptoms, and various combinations of the aforementioned.
